Why is it important to save the dolphins?

Dolphins are some of the smartest creatures on earth. Scientists have found that their sonar and speech have hundreds of different meanings. It is said that the dolphin is close to mankind. For centuries there have been stories of dolphins saving people lost at sea or in trouble in the sea. I feel that dolphins are an asset to mankind and should be protected at all costs. Dolphins are always getting caught in fishing nets and die of suffocation because they cannot reach the surface for air. It is my opinion that this is a horrible way for any creature to die and that the fishermen need to be held accountable for their actions. I refused to eat tuna until they came out with dolphin friendly tuna. The lable on the can guarantees that no harm has come to the dolphin in catching the tuna that is in that can. I don't know how true that is but it makes me feel better when I do eat tuna now. There are still some brands of tuna out there that do not have dolphin friendly labels and I will not purchase their products. We should all care about what is going on in nature and do what we can to be humane and kind to all of Gods creatures.
